Sold out at the Mint!
To celebrate the Royal Golden Jubilee, fifty years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the Royal Mint issued a very special coin set. Originally expected at the end of March, deliveries started before the end of May 2002. We received our delivery on Tuesday 28th May 2002, and had almost sold out already. These sets were a sell-out at the Royal Mint before their release.
Although the issue date is long gone, we do provide a market-making service in these sets. We are always happy to buy or sell them.
If you are thinking of buying one of these beautiful sets, we do not always have them in stock, please don't think about it for too long, we hate to have to say no!

Thirteen Coin Gold Proof Collection
Following the silver proof coin sets issued in 1996 and 2000 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of decimalisation, and the millennium respectively, the Golden Jubilee coin collection is a gold proof version of the year 2002 proof coin sets, except that it also includes the four maundy coins. Because the Maundy coins retain the original portrait, this set links 1952 and 2002 together artistically.

Limited Issue
Our original guess was about 1,000 sets, but we have now heard that our later guess of 2002 sets was correct.

Advance Orders - Now Stopped
We were inviting advance orders until shortly after release. Our estimate of the pricing was very close, we guessed at £2,500 per set, and the official price is £2,495. There has never been a set like this issued. Issue Date
We had been advised that the release date of this set would be the last week in March 2002, but within days we were informed that there would be a production delay until late April, now late May!.

Immediate Ordering Advisable
We have been advising early ordering of these sets for some time now. The Royal Mint sold out within days of advertising them. Fortunately the fact that we had pre-ordered a substantial quantity meant that all the customers pre-ordering from us will be receiving their sets at our pre-order price. With all coin issues, there are many people who leave their order until too late, and we expected a rush of people who omitted to order in good time, but still wanted to own a set. Fortunately, we still had a small quantity available which we were happy to offer at the original issue price.
Editing this page in 2005, we can add that we adjust our buying and selling prices of these sets according to our stock levels, and supply and demand. Because we try to maintain reasonable and competitive prices we do not always have these sets in stock, sometimes we sell out. Both supply and demand can be spasmodic, at times we have had none for several months on end, then we find ourselves with 3 sets in stock, possibly more!

Still Available at Issue Price
Although the Royal Mint have now sold out of these sets, we still had a very small quantity available at the normal issue price, and we maintained issue price for a considerable period afterwards. Nowadays, as stated above, our price fluctuates according to market conditions.
We did hear of one London dealer selling these sets in 2002 at £4,250 each!

Price Guarantee
Our advance ordering scheme incorporates the following price guarantee, collectors may wish to take advantage of our scheme in order to secure next year's sets:-
In the event that the Royal Mint reduce their issue price, we will refund the difference.
If the Royal Mint increase its issue price, we will absorb the first 5% of any increase, and if there is any excess, give you the option to cancel your order for a complete and prompt refund of deposit.
