2004 Gibraltar D-Day Landings £5 Gold Proof Coin Issued for the 60th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, these coins are approximately sovereign sized, and come complete with a box and cerificate. As you can possibly tell from our photographs, the engraving and production quality of these coins is not up to the standards of British proof sovereigns. If anything, our images look slighlty better than the actually coins. Both sides show weakness in relief, probably due to single striking rather than double striking. We guess these were made by the Tower Mint rather than the Royal Mint. Despite this criticism, they remain an interesting addition to a gold proof collection.
