The 2006 Gold Proof one pound coin with a reverse design by Edwina Ellis pays homage to Ireland and features one of Ireland's most famous landmarks, the magnificent Egyptian Arch Bridge.
This is the third Gold Proof Coin in a series of four original designs featuring bridges within each of the four home nations, and for the first time ever a gold Proof one pound coin has been offered as an individual piece.
The coin has a substantial weight of 19.619gms, which is almost three times the weight of a sovereign. Each coin is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity attesting to the worldwide issue limit of just 5,000, which is signed by the Deputy Master of the Royal Mint.
