Return of the Dragon
In 2008, St. George and the dragon returned to the 4 coin gold sovereign sets on all four coins, after the special one-off St. George reverse design in 2005.

Advance Orders
As in other recent years, we place a large advance order for both proof gold 4 coin sets and 3 coin sets. We are still accepting orders at our advance order prices for a limited period.

Design News
As in some previous years the 3 coin and 4 coin sovereign collections contain all coins of the same design, however in a number of years, in some years the two pound coin included with the sets has been the commemorative version instead. For 2008, all four coins will the St. George and Dragon version.

St. George and Dragon - Recut Reverse Dies
The traditional St George & Dragon design has been used on sovereigns, with a few breaks, since 1817. During this long period, there have been a considerable number of minor changes to the dies used for the reverse (tail side). This year, the reverse design appears to have been completely re-engraved, although there was no advance announcement of this from the Royal Mint. 2008 Prices
We expected the official Royal Mint prices to be further increased in view of greatly increased gold bullion prices.
Our forecast for the official Royal Mint issue price was £1,195 compared with £995 two years ago, but due to sharp gold bullion prices rises, we now expect this to be much higher. We are accepting orders now at our usual very competitive pre-release prices.
The prices shown below should be considered as pre-release or early bird prices, we expect to have to increase these prices shortly after issue.
