Perth Mint
The Perth Mint was established in 1899 primarily to mint Australian gold into British sovereigns, a role which it fulfilled until 1931. As such it is Australia's oldest mint still producing bullion coins.

  • Gold
    • Nuggets
      Produced annually since 1986/7. In the early years these featured Australian natural gold nuggets, but later changed to feature kangaroos and wallabies. Produced in weights of one troy ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce, tenth ounce and twentieth ounces.
    • Chinese Lunar Calendar Series
      These feature symbols of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, in a 12 year cycle starting in 1996 with the year of the rat.
    • Large Gold Coins
      Based on the nugget series with kangaroo themes, but with the same design each year. These are issued in weights of one kilo, ten ounces, and two ounces.
  • Silver
    • Kookaburras
      These started in 1990, and as their name implies feature kookaburras, with a different design each year. They are produced in weights of one kilo, ten ounces, two ounces, and one ounce.
    • Chinese Lunar Calendar Series
      Again featuring the twelve symbols of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, but with designs different from the gold versions. Besides the weights of one kilo, ten ounces, two ounces, and one ounce, they are also produced intermediate weights of half kilo, five ounces, and half ounce.

      These were introduced in 1988, and feature koala bears, again with a different design every year. They are produced in weights of one kilo, ten ounces, two ounces, one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce, tenth ounce, and twentieth ounces.

  Perth Mint also issue proof versions of many of the bullion coins, and a number of attractive collector coins.
