We have just (19th February 2009) taken delivery of our first 25 kilo delivery of Perth Mint gold bullion bars. These are in all metric weights from 1 gram to 100 grams. It excludes the 1 ounce size. Perth mint produce two main ranges of gold bars, their classic Perth Mint Swan bars, and the attractive Oriana bars. We have both designs available in most weights. As Perth Mint are, like most major world mints, struggling to keep up with heavy demand for gold bullion products, we are not yet able to place regular production orders for these bars, but we were able to buy some of their shelf stock. Once these are sold, we do not expect to be able to repeat for perhaps a few months.

New - Lower Premiums on Smaller Bar Sizes
We have been able to reduce our percentage premiums on bars below one ounce in weight. We have also added a few extra sizes which we did not previously stock as a matter of course.

Investment or Novelty
Obviously, the larger sizes will be better for serious investors.
Bars under 20 gram should be considered more as a novelty or gift item. We offer them for the sake of completeness.

Holograms
The holograms are printed on a plastic film which is bonded to the bar.

Circular Gold Bars
One solution to the question of which size bar to purchase, is to buy modern one ounce bullion coins. It is sensible to consider them as being one ounce circular bullion bars, guaranteed by a government rather than a refiner.
Because coins are mass produced, and very efficiently so, they are available at very competitive prices compared with similar size bars.
Because gold coins are almost universally recognised, they are also easy to resell.
