1908 US Gold $20 St. Gaudens Double Eagles PCGS Graded MS63
We recently bought an eagle that has been graded and slabbed by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of America.
The St. Gaudens type of American Gold Double Eagle Twenty Dollar coins were minted from 1907 to 1933.
According to Yeoman and Bressett's "Red Book" of US coins "The $20 gold piece designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens is considered to be the most beautiful United States coin." We would have to agree to differ, preferring the older Liberty Head Coronet issue, or some of the silver dollars.
Information about Double Eagles
Historically American gold eagles are $10 gold coins, and double eagles are $20 gold coins, issued between 1849 and 1933. Please don't confuse them with the modern gold eagle bullion coins made since 1986, and containing one ounce of gold, and fractions of one ounce.
