2003 Half Sovereigns - St. George Returns
After the special one-year-only design in 2002 for the Golden Jubilee, this year's - 2003 - half sovereigns and sovereigns revert to the traditional reverse design of St. George slaying the dragon.
Proofs Now Released
We have now received our first delivery of 2003 proof half sovereigns, and can supply from stock for immediate delivery.
Issue Limits
For 2003, the issue limit is a maximum of 100,000 of the uncirculated version. This is the same as for 2002.
The issue limit for the proof version is 10,000.
Year 2003 Gold Half Sovereigns
Two Versions:-
Year 2003 gold half sovereigns are being produced by the mint in two versions, ordinary uncirculated "bullion" grade, and "proofs" for sale to collectors.
Proof Version
We have now increased our prices to £95.
Uncirculated "Bullion" Version
This will be only the fourth time since 1982 that ordinary bullion half sovereigns have been produced. As with the millennium year, we expect these new half sovereigns to be very popular.
The issue limit for 2003 is only 100,000.
