Both the uncirculated and the proof versions will be in stock January 2009 for immediate delivery.
After the special one-year-only design in 2005, half sovereigns and sovereigns reverted to the traditional reverse design of St. George slaying the dragon.

Design Tweak
This year's - 2009 - half sovereigns have the familiar and historic St. George and Dragon reverse, but with a difference - see images, although we still have stocks of the 2008 issue.
Buy now and save pounds per coin compared with the Royal Mint's price of £170 each on the uncirculated (2008) "bullion" version.

Changes!
The reverse dies for sovereigns, half sovereigns, double sovereigns and quintuple sovereigns were remastered and recut in 2007. See our 2007 sovereigns page of our Gold Sovereigns website for more information.
Issue Limits
For 2008, the issue limit is expected to be set at a maximum of 75,000. This was the same as for 2008, we expect the 2009 issue limit to be similar.
The issue limit for the proof versions is expected to be 5,000.
