2011 Pound Gold Proof - UK Cities Edinburgh
In 2011 the United Kingdom Royal Mint will issue one pound coins as part of a new series representing England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales focussing on the capital cities. This year two coins are being released representing London and Belfast.
The coin has a substantial weight of 19.619gms, which is almost three times the weight of a sovereign. Each coin is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity attesting to the worldwide issue limit of just 1,000, which is signed by the Deputy Master of the Royal Mint.
Obverse
The obverse features the fourth portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS, with the inscription:

The reverse design by Stuart Devlin featuring the Edinburgh Castle, with the inscription:
