Attractive Gold Bullion Coin Series
The Perth Mint in Australia issue a very attractive and popular series of gold bullion coins based on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. We buy, sell, and stock these subject to availability.
They are produced in all five sizes, one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce, tenth ounce, and twentieth ounce, plus three large gold coins in 2 ounce, 10 ounce, and 1 kilo sizes.
These are popular with collectors, and also handy if you are looking for an interesting and unusual gift.
Brief History
The Chinese Lunar Calendar is based on a 12 year cycle, each year in the cycle is associated with a different animal. The Perth Mint in Australia started issuing series of Chinese Lunar Calendar coins, in gold and silver, in 1996, which was the Year of the Rat. We rarely manage to buy any of the older years, which tend to be very hard to source. We recommend that you buy this year's coins while we still have them available. Please use the link in the following table to see prices and availability for individual years.
In the one ounce size, the 2000 dragon has alreadey reached its issue limit, so we are unable to easily source any more, except from the secondary market. A number of the other dates are approaching their issue limit, so this entire collection will undoubtedly get harder to find in the future. If you wait until the final two coins are available, we expect it to be much more difficult to source the complete sets.
